Title:  Rite and Man. The Sense of he Sacral and Christian Liturgy by Louis Bouyer

Summary: Rite and Man is a classic work of liturgical theology by Louis Bouyer (1913–2004), one of the most respected 20th-century Catholic theologians and a key figure in the liturgical movement.

Originally published in the mid-20th century, the book explores:

  • How ritual (rite) arises naturally in human culture
  • Why humans seek the sacred, and how liturgy responds to this universal impulse
  • The relationship between Christian liturgy and earlier religious forms
  • How Christian worship embodies the fullness of the sacred through Christ

Bouyer argues that liturgy is not an artificial invention but a deep human need rooted in our nature as symbolic, communal, and transcendent-oriented beings.
