VINTAGESTAN BOOKS Title: Airbus A380. 2005 to present by Robert Wicks. Haynes Owners Workshop Manual Summary: Robert Wicks’ book tells the story of the Airbus A380, from its development and first flight in April 2005 through its introduction into commercial service with Singapore Airlines in 2007. The book explains how Airbus designed the A380 to challenge Boeing’s dominance in the very-large-airliner market. Wicks explores the enormous engineering and manufacturing effort required to create the aircraft, including its structure, composite materials, engines, avionics, cockpit and complex systems. The book also looks beyond the aircraft itself at the people involved engineers, factory workers, pilots, maintenance crews and airport staff giving readers an insight into how such a huge aircraft is built, operated and maintained. It is supported by extensive photography and research, including access to Airbus facilities. Author: Robert Wicks Publisher: J.H. Haynes & Co Ltd.
