Title: All Men are Lonely Now by Francis Clifford

Summary: The story explores the quiet, pervasive loneliness of men in the modern, post-war world. It centres on a middle-aged man whose external life appears stable but whose inner life is marked by emotional isolation, regret, and an inability to connect meaningfully with others—especially women.

Through the man’s reflections and interactions, Clifford shows how social change, emotional reserve, and unspoken expectations have left men cut off from intimacy. The protagonist struggles to express vulnerability, and his attempts at relationships are undermined by misunderstanding, pride, and fear of emotional exposure. Conversations feel shallow, silences feel heavy, and opportunities for connection are repeatedly missed.

The story is a quiet, poignant commentary on emotional repression and the human cost of failing to communicate love, need, and vulnerability.
