Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture. Old Testament XV. Apocrypha
VINTAGESTAN BOOKS
Title: Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture. Old Testament XV. Apocrypha
Summary: This volume of the Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture series gathers and organizes patristic (early Christian) interpretations of the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament. Like the rest of the ACCS series, it presents Scripture verse by verse, followed by short excerpts from Church Fathers, allowing readers to see how early Christians read and preached these texts. This volume demonstrates that the Apocrypha played a significant theological and pastoral role in early Christianity, shaping doctrines of ethics, martyrdom, prayer, and hope in eternal life. It offers a window into how the Fathers integrated these texts into the broader Christian understanding of Scripture and salvation.
