Title:  The Annual Register or a View of the History Politics and Literature for the year 1824

Summary: The 1824 Annual Register portrays a world entering a period of relative peace after the Napoleonic Wars but facing new challenges:

  • the expansion of the British Empire,
  • constitutional and religious reform,
  • the emergence of newly independent American republics,
  • colonial warfare in Asia,
  • and rapid economic and industrial change.

It remains an important historical source for understanding British and international affairs during the early nineteenth century.
