Summary: Bagels for Breakfast by Neil Rose is a romantic comedy set in London's Jewish community. It follows Marek Elliot, a 28-year-old Jewish solicitor whose overbearing mother is determined to see him marry a "nice Jewish girl." Unfortunately for Marek, his mother's reputation has made him less appealing to many women in the local dating scene. 
When Marek begins dating Melanie, who is kind, Jewish, and exactly the sort of woman his mother wants him to marry, everything seems to be falling into place. However, he also falls for Deborah, a lively, non-Jewish woman who is completely different from his mother's ideal. Instead of making a choice, Marek attempts to date both women at the same time, creating a web of lies and misunderstandings. 
As his deception grows, Marek finds himself caught between family expectations, cultural traditions, and his own feelings. His best friend, Rachel, disapproves of his behaviour, while his mother eagerly plans for the wedding she hopes will happen. Eventually, Marek's double life begins to unravel, forcing him to confront what he truly wants rather than what others expect of him.
