VINTAGESTAN BOOKS

Title:  British Carrier Aviation. The Evolution of the Ships and their Aircraft by Norman Friedman

Summary: The book traces the evolution of the British carrier-aviation enterprise from early experiments in the First World War, through inter-war developments, into the Second World War era and beyond.

Friedman emphasises the technical/design side (ships and aircraft) rather than deep operational or strategic analysis.

It covers both ship-design (carriers, conversions, fleet vs escort types) and aircraft development as they relate to carrier operations.
