Title: Celt and Saxon. Studies in the Early British Border by Nora Chadwick

Summary: This book is not a single narrative but a collection of scholarly essays edited by Nora K. Chadwick, with contributions from leading historians and philologists. It focuses on early medieval Britain (roughly 5th–8th centuries), especially the borderlands where Celtic (Brittonic) and Anglo-Saxon cultures met.

The volume explores how Celtic and Anglo-Saxon societies interacted, rather than treating them as completely separate. Its central theme is the “early British border” regions like northern England and southern Scotland where cultural, political, and religious contact was most intense.
