Title: Land and People in Medieval Lincolnshire by Graham Platts. History of Lincolnshire Volume IV

Summary: The book is a comprehensive study of Lincolnshire's society, economy, settlement patterns, and landscape from the Norman Conquest to the end of the Middle Ages. It combines documentary evidence, archaeology, and landscape history to explain how medieval Lincolnshire developed. The book remains a standard reference for medieval Lincolnshire because it combines archaeological evidence with written records to provide a county-wide picture of medieval life. It is particularly valuable for studying:

  • Medieval villages and deserted settlements.
  • Agricultural history.
