VINTAGESTAN BOOKS

Title: No Room for Mistakes. British and Allied Submarine Warfare 1939 to 1940

Summary: The book examines the early phase of submarine operations by the British and Allied navies (primarily the Royal Navy and its submarine service) in 1939-1940. It covers pre-war development of submarines, their technical and tactical state at the outbreak of war, the men who served in them, and then the actual operational war patrols and missions in home waters and northern European theatres. Given the title, the theme emphasises how unforgiving submarine warfare was: “There is no room for mistakes in submarines. You are either alive or dead.”
