Picturing England. The photographic collections of Historic England
VINTAGESTAN BOOKS Title: Picturing England. The photographic collections of Historic England by Mike Evans, Gary Winter and Anne Woodward Summary: The book presents more than 300 photographs selected from the Historic England Archive, one of the largest collections of historic photographs in the UK. These images document around 150 years of change in England, from the mid-19th century to the present day. The authors show how photography has been used to record the built environment and everyday life, including architecture, industrial sites, streets, landscapes, and social activities. The photographs reveal how England has evolved over time, showing buildings before demolition, new developments, and the interaction between historic and modern environments.
