Title: Ribchester Excavations Parts 1, 2 and 3 by B.J.N. Edwards and P.V. Webster

Summary: Ribchester Excavations Part 1. Excavations within the Roman Fort. Part 2. The Structures. Part 3. Pottery and Coins. The three volumes publish excavations (mainly 1968–1980) at Ribchester (Roman Bremetennacum), a fort and its surrounding civilian settlement (vicus) in Lancashire. The work aimed to understand:

  • The Roman fort and its development
  • The civilian settlement layout and economy
  • Material culture (especially pottery and coins)

The site is important because it shows long-term occupation from the 1st to late 4th/early 5th century, including continued activity in the north-west of Roman Britain
