Title: Rural Society and County Government in Nineteenth Century Lincolnshire by R.J. Olney. History of Lincolnshire Vol X

Summary: R. J. Olney's Rural Society and County Government in Nineteenth-Century Lincolnshire is a detailed study of how rural society, local politics, and county administration evolved in Lincolnshire between about 1800 and 1900. Rather than focusing solely on agriculture, Olney examines the relationship between landownership, social class, and local government, arguing that these shaped the county's political and economic development. The book is regarded as one of the key studies of Victorian Lincolnshire because it combines social history, agricultural history, and political history to explain how a predominantly rural English county adapted to the profound changes of the nineteenth century.
