Title: The Archaeology of the M6 Toll 2000 to 2003 by Andrew B. Powell

Summary: This book presents the results of a large-scale archaeological investigation carried out between 2000 and 2003 ahead of construction of the M6 Toll in the English Midlands. Archaeologists from Oxford Wessex Archaeology investigated a 43–44 km motorway route before building began. Work included surveying, excavation, and recording across 41 separate sites. The project is a major example of “rescue archaeology” (investigating heritage threatened by development).
