Title: The Cathars by Malcom Lambert

Summary: Malcolm Lambert’s The Cathars is a historical study of the medieval Cathar heresy, primarily in 12th to 13th century southern France (Languedoc) and parts of northern Italy. Lambert examines who the Cathars were, what they believed, why their movement grew, and how it was ultimately destroyed through crusade and inquisition.

His central argument is that Catharism was a serious and organized religious alternative to Roman Catholicism, not just a loose collection of heretical ideas.
