Title: The Marine Quarterly. A Journal of the Sea. Summer 2016

Summary: The Marine Quarterly is Issue 22 of the long-running maritime literary journal edited by Sam Llewellyn. The publication combines narrative sea writing, maritime history, sailing, fisheries, naval affairs, conservation, and adventure stories in a quarterly print journal aimed at readers interested in life at sea.

The Summer 2016 edition continued the journal’s characteristic mix of:

  • first-hand sailing and voyaging accounts,
  • historical maritime essays,
  • merchant shipping and fishing industry stories,
  • reflections on seamanship and seafaring culture,
  • literary extracts and illustrations.

The journal is known for publishing long-form “intelligent sea reading” in a compact illustrated format without advertising, featuring contributors ranging from professional sailors and naval historians to literary authors and adventurers.
