Title: The Master Idol by Anthony Burton.

Summary: The novel is a historical/adventure story centred on the discovery and influence of a mysterious idol an object of power or symbolic importance. Like many of Anthony Burton’s novels, it blends historical context with fiction, often involving travel, exploration, and encounters with unfamiliar cultures.

The story follows a protagonist who becomes entangled in events surrounding this idol. As the narrative unfolds, the idol represents power, belief, and control over others, drawing different characters often from conflicting backgrounds into a struggle over its possession or meaning.
