Title: The Mobilier 1900 to 1925 by Edith Mannoni and Chantal Bizot

Summary: Mobilier 1900-1925 is a richly illustrated survey of French furniture and interior design from the late Art Nouveau period through the rise of Art Deco, covering roughly 1900 to 1925. Written by Edith Mannoni and Chantal Bizot, the book examines how furniture design evolved from flowing organic forms inspired by nature to the cleaner geometric elegance associated with modernism and Art Deco.

The authors focus on major French designers, workshops, and decorative movements, especially the transition between:

  • Art Nouveau (c. 1895–1910) characterized by curved lines, floral motifs, exotic woods, and handcrafted decoration.
  • Art Deco and modern design (1910s–1925) marked by symmetry, luxury materials, geometric forms, lacquer, ivory inlays, and streamlined elegance.
