Title: The Rolls and Register of Bishop Oliver Sutton 1280 – 1299. Vol VI by Rosalind M.T. Hill. Lincoln Record Society Vol 64

Language: Latin

Summary: This is the sixth volume in Hill's scholarly edition of the surviving records of Oliver Sutton, Bishop of Lincoln from 1280 to 1299. The volume covers the final two years of Sutton's episcopate and presents the original Latin texts with English commentary and editorial notes. Volume VI is especially valuable for genealogists, local historians, and medieval scholars because it preserves the names of hundreds of clergy, patrons, villages, churches, monasteries, and lay people who appear in official diocesan business between 1297 and 1299. It is one of the principal primary sources for studying the administration of the medieval Diocese of Lincoln and complements the other seven volumes in Hill's edition.
