Title: Thomas Starkey and The Commonweal by Thomas F. Mayer

Summary: Thomas Starkey and the Commonweal is a scholarly historical study of Thomas Starkey (c. 1495–1538), an influential but often overlooked English humanist and political thinker in the early Tudor period. The book explores how Starkey’s life, ideas, and writings intersected with the political and religious upheavals of Henry VIII’s reign. Mayer situates Starkey within broader European humanist, political, and religious currents, rather than seeing him simply as a minor English commentator.
